(Reuters) ? Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a broken right thumb but does not plan to miss any games, the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback said on Tuesday.
Roethlisberger, third in the National Football League (NFL) with 2,877 passing yards this season for the AFC North-leading Steelers, said the injury to his throwing hand occurred during Sunday's 24-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He played the entire game against Cincinnati, completing 21 of 33 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, and expects to be calling signals for Pittsburgh's next game.
"It will be painful but it takes a lot to keep me out," Roethlisberger told reporters. "We'll concoct a splint. I'll have a glove on for the rest of the year."
Roethlisberger dealt with a similar issue during the 2005 NFL season and wore a protective sleeve as the Steelers won the Super Bowl.
The Steelers have a bye this week before playing the Kansas City Chiefs on November 27 but Roethlisberger said he would have played this week if a game was scheduled.
